Sidewalk Work is Complete
What was expected to be a couple of week job turned into a major undertaking. Most of the large trees had grown completely underneath the sidewalks-not just the roots, which themselves were up to 14 inches in diameter, but the actual trunk of the tree as well. Fortunately, the concrete company did not pull out and tell us to find someone else to do the work, but took on the added task of cutting out all of the tree roots and trunks. That, and the holidays, was the reason for the extended timeline for the project. Obviously, this impacted the cost of the job as well, almost quadrupling the original price. In the end though, we've got good sidewalks and we're still okay at the budget level as well. Going forward, we'll be looking at a yearly/biannual 'concrete edge grinding' program, aimed at smoothing down the lifted edges before they get so bad that the whole slab has to be replaced. We'll keep you updated on how that goes.
Sidewalk Work To Begin Soon
Repairs to the sidewalks throughout the community are scheduled to begin next week. There are approximately 150 squares of concrete that will be removed and replaced around the whole neighborhood. For the present time, the Board has decided to continue working around the trees, doing the least damage to the trees as possible, however, the process will include cutting out some of the roots that are pushing the concrete upward. During the course of the construction, please watch out for the kids, keeping them away from the work sites and equipment. Contact Shawn or a Board member if you have any problems or questions about the project; it should last about 10-14 days.
New Meeting Location
As of September, the county has leased most of the property and building at Lake Sylvan Park to Orlando City Soccer. As a result, there is no longer any meeting space available there for the community to use. Fortunately, the good folks at Seminole Community Church have extended their hospitality to us, allowing us to meet at their facility. The address is 5070 N. Orange Blvd., Sanford, Fl., which is 'HERE' on the map.
ACC Guideline Revision(s)
Clarifying language has been added to sections #26 (house colors) and #32 (roofing). Please take a look 'HERE' to read the added language. Official notices will be sent via mail.
